In this course, we cover in more detail, one of the main elements of project constraints, that of risk management. This course shows you the principles and processes of risk management and gives you the techniques to help you identify and manage project risk in a way that is visible, repeatable and consistent, by introducing a series of well defined processes.

This course is designed for project manager starting out in their career, or project professionals transitioning to a project management role, who wish to have a deeper understanding of Risk Management and how to approach the process of identifying, estimating and mitigating risks in your project.

While this is a stand-alone course, it presumes that you have a basic understanding of project management, from concept through to delivery, and understand where risk management fits within that context. If you are uncertain, try our introductory “Starting in Project Management” course to get you more acquainted.

Lessons:
Understanding Risk Management
This session will help you understand what risk is, identify the types of risk that exist, and outline the benefits to adopting a structured approach, to managing your project risks efficiently.
Risk Management Principles
This session will help you understand the types of project risk that exist and provide you with an outline project management strategy and risk approach. It also explains concepts like risk hierarchy and risk appetite, helping you to define your approach to risk management.
Module: The Process of Risk Management
Lessons:
Risk Management Process
In this session, we look at the primary steps in all risk management in more detail, including the process steps of Identify, Assess, Plan, and Implement. It also covers the need to Communicate on an ongoing basis with stakeholders
Identifying Risk
In this session, we look at how, we identify the Inputs, and techniques, used in an ‘Identify Risk’ process, then at the outputs to which these processes contribute, by examining just some, of the of various techniques available.
Estimating Risk
In this session, we explain how we can estimate the level of exposure that is attached to each risk, by exploring ways of estimating the probability and impact that a risk is likely to generate, then how to use an impact grid, to calculate the overall risk to our project.
Risk Reporting
This session explains how to keep stakeholders and project board abreast of the progress you are making in risk mitigation, by demonstrating the use of standard risk reporting procedures.
